Jury_StapletonMaestro Robin Stapleton studied at the RCM and NOS as the Royal Opera scholar. He then joined the Royal Opera House music staff as répétiteur and chorus director, making his Covent Garden conducting debut aged 26. His many engagements at the ROH include Tosca, La bohéme, Madama Butterfly, Macbeth, Der Freischűtz and Die Fledermaus. He has also conducted at Glyndebourne, Opera North, Scottish Opera, Wexford, Mexico City, Nederlandse Opera, Gothenburg, Johannesburg and Opera San Diego.

He has conducted Kiri te Kanawa in concert all over the world and has been associated with many classical music programmes on television and radio. His many recordings includes the Pearl Fishers duet with Pavarotti and Ghiarov and operetta arias with Stuart Burrows for Decca, three recital CDs with Tito Beltran on Silva Records, Spanish songs with José Carreras for Phillips, Grisélidis, on the Gala label and a series of popular classics for EMI.

This year he has been heavily involved in ‘The Kiri Prize’ for BBC radio 2 as well as returning in July to Royal Opera House to conduct a concert for the Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance.
