Biography |

Soo-Jung ANN was born in Seoul in 1987. She began the piano at the age of 6 and studied at Yewon Art School and the preparatory school of the Korean National University of Arts. She studied with Prof. Choong‑Mo Kang and obtained a Bachelor Degree of Music at the Korean National University of Arts in Feb. 2007. She has been a student of Prof. John O'Conor and Thérèse Fahy at the Royal Irish Academy of Music since September 2007. In 2009, she received her Degree for Master of Music in Performance and is now studying for a Doctorate in Music Performance. In competitions, Soo-Jung has had a great deal of international success. In addition to wnning the 6th prize of the 7th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, she has also won the 3rd prize of the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition, Gold prize & Faith prize of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia 2005 at Tokyo, the 5th prize of the International Seiler Piano Competition, the Moscow Chopin Competition for young pianists, and nationally she was awarded the first prize at Chosun Daily News Music Competition, National Samick Piano Competition, Eumag Chunchoo Piano Competition, Junior Chopin Piano Competition of Korea, Seoul Youth Chamber Ensemble and the Grand Prize at National Teenager Piano Competition. Soo-Jung has performed widely throughout her native country Korea in addition to Ireland, France, Japan, Malaysia, Macedonia, Poland, and Russia and has performed as concerto soloist with Kracow Philharmonic Orchestra, Macedonia Philharmonic Orchestra, Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra and Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also appeared at a number of music festivals including Euro Music Festival and Academy, the Hamamatsu Music Academy and Aspen Music Festival and School. |
