Biography |

Leonie Bluett is a recent graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she completed a B.A. in Music Performance studying under John Finucane, and is the recipient of numerous first place awards and prizes. Leonie has been successful numerous times in the Feis Ceoil Dublin, the RIAM Music Festival and the Kilkenny Music Festival. Prizes include the Contemporary Cup in 2009 and the McCullough Cup for woodwind concerto in 2008. In December 2010 she took part in an international clarinet competition “Marco Fiorindo” in Italy. Leonie has played as part of many orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, RIAM Symphony Orchestra and Hibernian Symphony Orchestra. She has also successfully taken part in the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the RTE Concert Orchestra Mentoring Schemes where she has played in various rehearsals and concerts with them. Leonie is currently a reserve of the European Union Youth Orchestra. Leonie enjoys playing in chamber ensembles as well as solo performing – most recently performing the Copland Clarinet Concerto with the RIAM Symphony Orchestra in the NCH. She has taken part in the International Summer Academy for Chamber Music in Frenswegen, Germany in 2009 and 2010. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned clarinetists such as François Benda, Eddy Vanoosthuyse, Robert Spring, Fabio Di Casola, Andrew Roberts, Johannes Peitz and Carol McGonnell. |
