Biography |

Darren Hatch began studying the saxophone at fourteen and in 2005 became a full‑time student of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama under the tuition of Tim Hanafin. He graduated in 2009 from the Conservatory's Bachelor of Music programme obtaining first class honours. In 2010 He pursued postgraduate studies at the Conservatory's Performance Masters programme under the guidance of Kevin Hanafin. He has been concerto soloist with the DIT Symphony Orchestra and the DIT Wind Ensemble. He is a member of the Chatham Saxophone Quartet. The group have performed to great critical acclaim and currently hold the position of apprentice ensemble with the ConTempo String Quartet as part of their Galway Music Residency. Darren has had several competition successes at the ESB Feis Ceoil and has performed with the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble, Hibernian Orchestra, and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. He has a keen interest in education and holds teaching positions at Belvedere College, Malahide School of Music, and Larkin Community College (CDVEC). |
