Caoimhe de Paor has just completed her fourth year of the B.Mus in CIT Cork School of Music where she studied both recorder and clarinet under Liz Jones. Growing up in a musical family, she began her musical studies in Limerick's Municipal School of Music where she was taught by Maria O'Brien. Her participation in the Early Music Group directed by Maria O' Brien developed a keen interest in the recorder and early music. Since beginning her studies in CSM she has been given great opportunities to perform as a soloist and as first clarinet player in the CSM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Band. She is also first clarinet player with the BoherBuoy Band in Limerick. On her recorder, Caoimhe has experienced success in various competitions including CSM competitions, Feis Maitiu, Feile an tSamhraidh, and Feis Ceoil. Having received master classes from some of the best known recorder players such as Dan Laurin, Ian Wilson (Guildhall School of Music and Drama), Pamela Thorby (Birmingham conservatoire and visiting professor to Guildhall) and Robert Erlich (visiting professor to Guildhall, professor of recorder at the Mendelssohn Hochschule, Leipzig) she has been encouraged and enthused to continue her recorder studies in England, where she has been offered a place on the masters in performance programme in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. |
